Privacy Policy

Flawd is a dating app built on honesty, and that starts with being honest about your data. Flawd is operated by Flawd Inc. ("Flawd", "we"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have.

What we collect

• Account information: email address or phone number, used to sign you in.
• Profile information you choose to share: name, birth date, photos, bio, height, profession, hobbies, gender, pronouns, sexual orientation, religion, family situation, relationship intent, healing journey, and the flaws you select.
• Location: your city and approximate coordinates, used to show matches near you and to display the approximate distance (in miles) between you and other users. If you skip location access, we use the center of the city you typed instead. Other users only ever see a coarse location and a distance — never your exact position.
• Messages and media: texts, photos, and voice notes you send to matches, stored so your conversations work across devices.
• Activity: when you last used Flawd and your Pass/Connect decisions.

Sensitive information

Some of what Flawd collects — sexual orientation, religion, and self-described flaws — is sensitive by nature and by law. We collect it only because the app's matching cannot work without it, only with your explicit consent given when you fill in your profile, and we never sell it or use it for advertising.

Your flaws, your call

By default, one flaw is visible on your profile to everyone as a teaser — you choose which one in Settings → Flaw privacy (otherwise it's the first flaw you picked). While "Show my flaws" is on, Flawd+ subscribers can also preview your full flaw list before matching, and when you match, both of you see which flaws you share or accepted in each other.

Turn "Show my flaws" off and every flaw — the teaser included — stays hidden from everyone. No subscription unlocks them; they only come out in conversation, on your terms. Matching comparisons themselves always happen on our servers.

How we use your data

• Matching you with compatible people (the entire point).
• Delivering your conversations.
• Safety: enforcing blocks, reviewing reports, and preventing abuse.
• We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.

Who processes your data

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage.
• Twilio — delivers SMS verification codes if you use phone login.
• Apple — processes payments for Flawd+ subscriptions; we never see your payment details.
• OpenAI — automated safety screening: profile photos are scanned for prohibited content at upload, and abuse reports are prioritized for human review. Screening inputs are not used to train models, and private messages are never scanned.

Your rights and control

• Delete everything: Profile → Delete account permanently erases your account, profile, photos, matches, messages, and reports. No undo, no retention.
• Visibility controls: per-item toggles decide what other users see.
• Blocking: blocked users cannot see you or contact you.
• Depending on where you live (GDPR, CCPA), you also have rights to access, correct, and export your data — contact us and we'll honor them.

Age

Flawd is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
